Our ability to think about thought is a useful skill. It’s good to exercise it and keep it agile. In this short video, I talk about wide ranging things like Descartes’ mind/body dualism – ‘I think therefore I am’ and the Matrix!
I also chat about where we put ourselves in time and space in order to make judgments and decisions. Flexibility of thought is so important. Putting ourselves in and out of a moment is also (ironically) helpful in mindfulness when attempting to be in the moment.
I hope these short ‘top tips’ videos are useful? If you need to chat, online counselling can help. I’d love to hear from you.
Interesting that Descartes has come up twice today! Love reading your blog. He seems to be a lot about thought and thought experiments. I suppose that mindfulness takes us into the realm of feeling and other experiences 🙂
Have struggled with this ever since my philosophy degree! Where do our thoughts reside and then what is controlling our thoughts – how can they be so autonomous from our sense of self?
It is this thinking about thoughts that form the basis of mindfulness – not easy!
Hope all is going well with you all. xx
